ABOUT OTHER BULGARIAN STUDIES

Abstract

This text is dedicated to Bulgarian studies in peripheral regions of the Bulgarian language area, which today are in the territories of neighboring countries: Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia. The specifics of these studies related to the study of the preserved Bulgarian linguistic wealth in the indicated regions are examined. They provide an opportunity to see the developmental trends in the Bulgarian dialects that remained outside the metropolis. The study of preserved Bulgarian written monuments related to the Bulgarian linguistic history is also of great importance. The publication states that Bulgaria lacks a long-term program to coordinate the research activities of scientific units of the BAS system related to the study and promotion of the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage in Eastern Thrace, Western Thrace, Aegean Macedonia, Vardar Macedonia and the Western outlying districts in Eastern Serbia. At the same time, the requirements for approving a Bulgarian project by Bulgarian state institutions related to research activities in the indicated regions are not in line with the actual situation there. The need for implementing a complex long-term program for researching the Bulgarian linguistic past in the indicated regions is emphasized.
